Aller Aqua Group is supplying fish feed and feeding solutions to the international aquaculture market while upholding and respecting local cultural habits, religious aspects, ethical values, and by minimizing the environmental impact.
From a global point of view, the aquaculture farming industry is amongst the fastest growing segments within livestock production. As fish feed producer, Aller Aqua has a responsibility to support this development in a sustainable way by sourcing raw materials of optimal nutritional value and low environmental impact.
Aller Aqua has a set of criteria for raw materials and suppliers that must be fulfilled:
Suppliers are evaluated, approved, and audited against criteria that ensures full traceability, quality, and food safety. All suppliers must comply with the Aller Aqua Code of Conduct.
Raw materials that are produced locally are prioritised. All raw materials are risk assessed and must fulfil specific requirements.
All plant ingredients are from conversion-free and deforestation-free supply chains. The minimum cut-off date is June 2021, but the goal is to ensure no conversion or deforestation has taken place for over two decades.
Soya is an important feed ingredient in fish feed. The Aller Aqua facilities in Denmark, Poland, and Germany exclusively use soya products that have their origin in the European region. Only sustainable, non-GMO soya certified by Europe Soya is used.
Marine ingredients come from sustainable fisheries or from by-products from human consumption. All marine ingredients are from international regulated fisheries and MSC certified marine ingredients are prioritised.
A key goal is to introduce and extend the use of new, sustainable feed ingredients in fish feed without compromising the quality, nutritional value, or sustainability of the products.
