The new result is calculated using European-produced soya compared to Brazilian soya. Using only regionally produced soya in 2023 in our European factories, we have achieved 32% CO2 savings, not 17% as previously assumed.
Updated calculations reveal a 32% CO2 reduction at Aller Aqua Group European factories.
Calculations showing a 32% saving are based on primary LCA data from Europe Soya and compared with data for Brazilian soya from the GFLI feed LCA database. The datasets compared are the CO2 -equivalents with land-use change, and the calculation methodology is previously third part verified.
Sustainability has always been engraved in Aller Aqua’s philosophy, and we praise ourselves as a company that is not only one of the industry leaders in terms of know-how and innovation but also a pioneer when it comes to introducing new, sustainable practices to the aquaculture industry.
We started procuring raw materials locally, translating not only into benefits for local suppliers but also reducing the mentioned emissions. Now, after comparing the numbers, it turns out our decisions have been well-grounded, and our reduction of CO2 is as much as 32% on our products!’
